Working for yourself: the micro-entreprise

First a residence document that allows the activity. Then registration and the first deadlines.

What to do

  • To live in France and run a business you need a document that allows it: for example the "entrepreneur/profession libérale" card (income from 1,867.02 € a month) or "résident de longue durée-UE".
  • Registration is free and online only, on the guichet des formalités des entreprises. 2026 turnover limits: 203,100 € sales, 83,600 € services.
  • ACRE: 25 % off contributions until the end of the 3rd quarter after you start, if you are for example a job seeker, on RSA or under 26.
  • Turnover is declared on the URSSAF site monthly or quarterly. Contributions: 12.3 % sales, 21.2 % services, 25.6 % liberal professions. A missed declaration: 60.1 € penalty.
  • No CFE in the first year, but form 1447-C-SD must be sent by 31 December of the start year.
