Your first tax return
In spring you declare your income for the past year. The first year has its own steps.
What to do
- Declare even if you have no tax to pay: you get an avis de non-imposition, needed for many procedures.
- In the first year you usually have no numéro fiscal. To declare online, ask your tax office (SIP) to check your identity; otherwise file a paper return.
- The online deadline depends on your department and is set each year on impots.gouv.fr. Your roadmap shows yours.
- Late returns carry penalties.
