Choose a family doctor (médecin traitant)
From age 16 you must declare a médecin traitant. The easy way: the doctor does it online with your carte Vitale; or you and the doctor sign a form and send it to the CPAM. If you see a doctor you have not declared, you are refunded less. Exceptions: an emergency, you are far from home, your doctor is not available. You can see a gynaecologist, ophthalmologist, psychiatrist, dentist or midwife without a referral (F163).
