Childcare for a little one: crèche, childminder and the CMG aid

A crèche, micro-crèche or school requires the compulsory vaccinations (F767).

If a registered childminder (assistante maternelle) or a micro-crèche looks after your child, the CAF pays the CMG aid for a child under 6. Condition: you or your partner work; without that, it is still paid, among others, to students and people on unemployment benefit (F39152, F345).

You are the childminder's employer: register on Pajemploi and declare her pay every month; the CAF covers all social contributions for an assistante maternelle (F39152).

Apply from your caf.fr account. On top of that, in your tax return 50 % of childcare costs for a child under 6 come back as a tax credit, up to 3,500 € of costs per child a year, even if you owe no tax (F8).
